Match.com

A friend of a friend recently got married to a guy she met on an online dating service and my colleague walked into work yesterday with a bright pink chin and a hickies covered neck from a guy she met on match.com. So i've decided that maybe I should just check it out...it's becoming the norm for people to use these services and find the one.

I've always had the impression that people who join these sites are either desperate, something is wrong with them or like me are just curious but don't really take it seriously. Anyways I've decided to sign up (no I haven't paid for it)...signing up allows you to simply look at people's profile pictures...i mean really you have to pass the 'Are you cute?' test first..... If anything, as a friend puts it, I'll have lots of dating stories to tell. Eeek it sounds like my idea of a nightmare but we shall see.

Up till now (I only signed up last night), i've been contacted by 3 Asian boys, 1 Indian and 2 White guys....none grabbed my attention and none were good looking. Not a good start.

Song of the Week

Common - Universal Mind Control

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGGB-olkAi0

I love the beat...I can't wait for this album!

Thanks Mister!

Um...i just got to work and i'm already annoyed. I was standing on the escalator headed out of the train station when an older gentleman standing behind me taps me on the shoulder. I hate when I have to turn my music off, take out my headphones and deal with other people at 8 am. I'm not a morning person.

Music off, one earphone out and I slowly turn around to hear this man tell me that I should close my handbag because people will steal from me! Um...i smiled, thanked him and zipped up my bag.

What I really wanted to say was a) thanks for announcing to everyone around us that my bag is open b) why are you looking at my bag in the first place? c)mind ur own goddamn bussiness....you may think you were being nice but really I don't care for your advice!

Song of the Week

Green Light by John Legend ft. Andre 3000

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5brurMQodM

Going forward...I'm going to try and post a different song every week. Considering how wack the music industry has been lately, i'm not going to post a NEW song per se every week but instead a combination of throwbacks, new stuff and simply timeless pieces. Enjoy!

HIV or a Baby...tough decision

So I was chatting to a friend this morning who is attending some type of sex education training and she decided to share a comment of what seems to be an intelligent young lady. Be prepared...i still don't know how to react to this.

This young lady claims that she would rather have HIV than be pregnant because really HIV nowadays is not a big deal anymore. There are so many different types of medicine which allow one to live a lot longer so if she had to make a choice...HIV is the one!

SHOCK!

Not to mention that this young lady has a 5 yr old! (Boy this kid must be loved!) BUT...how can you make such a statement? I wish I was there to smack her and knock some sense into her!!

a) These medicine she is talking about aren't exactly cheap. So unless you are amongst the high society such as Magic Johnson, I doubt these medicine are going to provide you a lovely & comfortable lifestyle.
b) Eventually HIV does turn into AIDS and although the AIDS won't kill you. A little cold caught from your 5 yr kid or your best friend might be your death sentence.
c) You are taking a sex education class....having HIV and sex with partners becomes extremely risky not to mention you might not find any partners if you're being honest
d)Although we might like to think there aren't any stigmas involved with being an HIV patient....believe me there is still a long way to go. Friends/family/close ones might not act the way they once did

Although I could go on and on about why this statement is just beyond unbelievable...this young lady is at this seminar because she is a sex educator. How can a sex educator think like this? Most importantly, who allowed her to become a sex educator? This is not the message we want young people to hear.

At the end of the day...your sexual behaviours are your personal choices. One shouldn't have to chose between HIV and pregnancy...a)don't have sex b) use contraception (man and even if you had to chose, i certainly hope you rationalise like this young lady).

Her statement just proves that sex education is CRUCIAL.

Guys, what are you thinking?!

Monday morning...not exactly my favourite day of the week! This morning I was running late...no really running late. I had planned my outfit in my head the previous night only to not find the shirt I wanted wear this morning ( I still have no idea where it is and its bugging me). After rummaging thru my closet, I quickly decided on something and run outta the house (not so easy when you have a hyper little puppy!)

Anyways...dropped the puppy off at doggy day care (yes I know...no comments pls.) and finally I'm on the train to work. It's suprisingly packed...perhaps because i'm running late and usually i'm on the train much earlier? So you know how it goes...you end up pushin up on some people, some people push up on you...the joy of rush hour! This guy is pushin up against me and starts whispering things in my ear along the lines of " Ooo you smell so good! And ooo you look so good etc..." The usual bullshit...I actually turned around and told him to stop.

Stop! Seriously....where do you think this is getting you? Do you think I'm going to turn around and fall madly in love with you? That I'm going to want to spend the rest of my life with you? Nope...instead I really should have slapped this guy!

And so my question of the day is....Guys,what are you thinking when you pull this crap?!

Clay Aiken is G-A-Y

Did we really need a public confession in PEOPLE magazine to confirm that he's gay?! I'm sorry this has been a known fact for years now...
